True or False: You need a perfect credit score to get a mortgage.

It’s a common belief that only people with spotless credit scores can get a mortgage. The truth? Not at all.

Yes, a higher credit score can make it easier to access the best rates- but plenty of lenders will still consider your application even if your credit isn’t perfect. What matters most is your ability to afford the repayments and meet the lender’s overall criteria.

In fact, some lenders specialise in helping people with low or “quirky” credit histories, such as past missed payments, county court judgments, or short-term financial hiccups. They look at the bigger picture, not just a number on a credit report.

So if you’ve been holding back because of your credit history, don’t worry. Perfect credit isn’t a must- it’s your overall financial situation that counts.

It's a classic myth! This one is certified: FALSE
